<![CDATA[Parking Update]]> http://www.mediacityuk.co.uk/p/parking-update http://www.mediacityuk.co.uk/p/parking-update#When:15:49:32Z We’re aware that there were frustrating and lengthy queues exiting the multi-storey on Monday and Wednesday this week and we’re very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, demand for spaces was exceptionally high on both these days which we believe was largely due to the rail strike. Please be assured we are working hard to find a solution and our team will be present this evening to speed up the exit process.

The queues have also been exacerbated by only two of the three exit lanes being used by those leaving the car park. During peak times we will continue to man these lanes to ensure they are used effectively.

We have also invested in ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) technology which will recognise the number plate details of vehicles who hold a season ticket. This will allow these vehicles automatic access, hence speeding up the entrance and exit process.

We understand there are concerns among our community over the availability of parking spaces and we are closely monitoring demand for spaces. Despite a number of new tenants joining the MediaCityUK community we still have over 1,000 available spaces across the site including Booths, The Pitch and The Lowry.

We are also working closely with the BBC and dock10 on a car parking strategy for studio audiences who will be encouraged to park at the Lowry car park.

You can download a PDF information sheet which contains available parking locations and tariffs here.

Thank you for your patience and if you have further questions or concerns please email:neil.beverley@mediacityuk.co.uk

The 420 staff made the move to Orange after almost 30 years in Old Trafford. Kellogg’s will take up three floors of the building, sharing it with The University of Salford, Ericsson and ITV.

It will be home to the company’s UK and Irish sales and marketing business as well as support functions for its European operations, including those involved in research, food development, marketing, sales, human resources and finance.

Kellogg’s announced its arrival in fun fashion with Tony the Tiger taking over TfGM Metrolink travel announcements with a friendly welcome message at the MediaCityUK tram stop.

The iconic mascot was also spotted meeting people off the tram at Kellogg’s new home, stopping for selfies at Cornbrook station and adding a little cheer to the otherwise busy, rush hour commute from Piccadilly.

Actor Tom Clarke Hill, the voice of Tony the Tiger, came to Manchester to record the tram announcements in Transport for Greater Manchester’s Trafford depot.

Clarke Hill said: “I’ve been the voice of Tony the Tiger for nearly 20 years. I used to watch the Kellogg’s Frosties adverts when I was a kid and mimic the voice, over time practise makes perfect.

“It has been really exciting to be involved in this latest project, it is has been really fun to be involved in the next chapter of the company – the move to MediaCity, it’s going to be grrrreat!”

<![CDATA[Space Digital produces US hit short film 'Slaughterbots']]> http://www.mediacityuk.co.uk/p/space-digital-produced-us-hit-short-film-slaughterbots http://www.mediacityuk.co.uk/p/space-digital-produced-us-hit-short-film-slaughterbots#When:11:38:51Z A hard-hitting short film about autonomous weapons which is making headlines across the world, was written and produced in MediaCityUK.

Award-winning production and visual effects specialists, Space Digital, based at MediaCityUK, also did all of the post-production on ‘Slaughterbots’, which was made for the USA’s Future of Life Institute.

The film channels a near-future dystopian world where artificially intelligent drones become terrifying killing machines in an attempt to raise awareness about the dangers of autonomous weapons.

With over 400,000 views on YouTube on its initial release and articles published in the Guardian, Independent, CNN and Daily Mail, the film has obviously struck a chord with viewers and concerned spectators.

Space Digital was approached directly by the Boston-based Institute, whose aim is to catalyse and support research and initiatives for safeguarding life and developing optimistic visions of the future, including positive ways for humanity to steer its own course considering new technologies and challenges.

Space Digital MD Matthew Nelson said: "We’re proud to have been approached to produce a film on such an important matter – and it highlights the unique capabilities we have here at Space Digital. The film was shot on location at Hertfordshire University, Peterborough and Edinburgh, and the complete post included 150 visual effects shots. The end result is extremely impactful.”

Now in its 11th year, Space Digital has an impressive reputation in the industry and, earlier this year, won a coveted Silver Award at the prestigious Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards.

<![CDATA[Upp B2B to create new website for youth charity]]> http://www.mediacityuk.co.uk/p/upp-b2b-to-create-new-website-for-youth-charity http://www.mediacityuk.co.uk/p/upp-b2b-to-create-new-website-for-youth-charity#When:11:16:22Z MediaCityUK-based Upp B2B has been commissioned to work on a website brief for Bolton Lads & Girls Club (BLGC), following a competitive five-way agency pitch.

The specialist b2b agency was selected for its UX-led approach to web creation and its clear understanding of the organisation’s vision and brand values.

BLGC, one of the UK’s biggest youth centres and a registered charity, is headquartered in Bolton. Founded in 1889, the organisation provides over 3,500 children from 8 to 19 years of age - up to 21 for young people with a disability - with a safe haven to spend their free time. The charity, which operates across four centres, also gives members access to a wider range of initiatives including, sports, the arts, mentoring and community outreach work.

Karen Edwards OBE, chief executive Bolton Lads & Girls Club, said, “Upp B2B really demonstrated that they understood us as an organisation at pitch stage. They went on to impress us in planning meetings with the senior team, focusing on how we could shape a much more relevant and interactive ‘user experience’ with the new site. We had some very specific challenges we needed to address, and a number of different stakeholder groups we needed to engage. From the members (young people) themselves, to volunteers and corporate organisations who support our fundraising activities. We’re thrilled with the end result as we believe this sets us up for the next phase of our growth.”

Upp B2B has been a patron of the charity for over five years, and has previously worked with the Board of Trustees on a pro-bono basis to develop the BLGC brand positioning, ‘Enriching young lives’.

Michael Clark, Managing Director Upp B2B, adds, "It was a real privilege to be chosen to work on this project by the BLGC trustees. I’ll be honest, the team has felt under a bit of pressure to deliver something special on this project, as BLGC plays such an important role in the North West. He concludes, “BLGC is a forward-thinking organisation doing really important work, and this has been a heart and soul project for the agency.”
